The AlmaMicrobiome research biobank tells its birth, alongside with the present and the future developments of microbiome biobanking at the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Two high-profile events during the Emilia-Romagna Region week at Expo2025 will showcase the joint efforts of the AlmaMicrobiome research biobank and the Interdepartmental Centre for Life Sciences (CIRI-SDV). These two centres at the University of Bologna are promoting increasingly fruitful interactions between medicine, research, industry and citizens. In particular, Professors Monica Forni and Patrizia Brigidi of the University of Bologna, respectively Director of CIRI-SDV and Director of the AlmaMicrobiome biobank, will highlight the role of these entities within the complex network of connections between regional ecosystems and international arenas, through their presentations on biobanking for health (23/09) and microbiome specialised biobanking (24/09). This opportunity is guaranteed by the constant organisational commitment of Clust-ER Health, a key interface in the dynamic relationship between academia and business in the region, two entities firmly rooted in the territory and capable of looking out onto broader scenarios, with the intention of showing how overcoming local challenges can have global projections.
Date: September 23rd-24th, 2025
