On the second day of the EBW24 ‘Strengthening Biobanks and Biorepositories: Collaborative Approaches for a Sustainable Future’ at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, various sessions are being held, ranging from the concept of One Health to bioinformatics, from biobanking of rare diseases to citizen engagement. After the talk of Infrastructure Manager Massimiliano Borsani, who yesterday presented the Strengthening BBMRI.it project during a parallel session, today ELSI experts Sara Casati (bioethicist) and Antonella Mirabile (lawyer) discussed the legal framework in biobanking of old collections and organoids. Moreover, Prof. Lavitrano chaired a keynote session on ‘Biobanking with Underrepresented Populations: The Critical Role of Participant Engagement’, and in her role as Vice-President of the EOSC Association gave a keynote speech on ‘European Open Science Cloud – Why should we care about’.
